NBA Freeflow on BET

I had to hold back on officially announcing this because the contract wasn't finished until last night. NBA Freeflow is a Sprite joint production venture with BET and the NBA for a 30 minute show on how your favorite NBA players get hyped with music. We've got the big names: LeBron, Shaq, Ben Wallace, Stackhouse, Duncan, and more all talking to us about how they get up for their big games.

Why does this matter to you? Because we sent in 14 different beats to be incorporated into the vignettes and the 30 minute show.

Plus, the following folks will have their name and track name in the credits at the end of the 30 minute show.

1. VRoc - Ain't No Game...OBEY YOUR THIRST! SPRITE
2. Someguy211 - The Jaz Panther
3. Seanwes - Liquidize - Remix
4. BoNeZX759 - watch your tongue
5. PAYPABOI - Sublymonal Message
6. spanki1083 - PeanutZ
7. timber_land765 - 1ofDaBEST
8. JACKOUTO - GotThis
9. Keppen - BALLIN-myspace.com/KEPPEN2007
10. txstateovmind - countryswagger
11. Infinity1986 - Infinity
12. Rip123 - Theme #23
13. D-Hussel - UnDiscovered
14. Slimdog - 2 to da 3

NBA Freeflow airs on 2/13 and the vignettes start airing on BET today.

Thanks,

Admin

When going over the rules, I think it states that they can do whatever they want with the mixes, and "without attribution or compensation to the contestant, his or her successors or assigns, or any other entity"

I think that means that you do not get any credit thru BMI or ASCAP. Sprite or CocaCola, or whatever, owns everything. Which makes sense, they created the samples, supplied the mixer, didn't grant us all any type of user license or anything. Which I had wondered about anyway, in regard to people wanting to put the mix they made on their own sites. I think you have to get permission to do so.

Still..you do get a credit and it's on a show...way to go to all of those placed!

Congrats to you all... but I personally think that you guys should've picked real tracks to use. I'm not dissin any of the dudes that made those mixes. Nor am I dissin sprite and whoever else had a hand in createing the mixing program. But instead of fueling the whole "fruity loops" dudes, hopes and dreams... why not use music that was created outside of the sprite micer. Granted, there's more legal issues involved doing it that way. But why not ask these dudes on here to submit some of their other stuff. From reading some of the posts, I'm sure none of them would mind handing their stuff over to coca cola, simply for the credits. Now I don't wanna say "you"... but I can't say it any other way, but you guys are givin these guys and girls false hope as to bein a huge beatmaker or producer or whatever they wanna call themselves. Again NOT TO DISS ANYONE ON HERE OR OVER AT THE COMPANY. But I'm a producer myself and I know for a fact that all of the producers listed on these guy's myspace pages under their influences, uses any kinda crap like fruity loops... Just my opinion.

Anyone that opens a sentence with Congrats, BUT....... is not really giving any props in my eyes. To each his own though. They might very well use our original music for other projects in the future. They never said this was the only opportunity did they? No. In fact, the Admin stated earlier that Many opportunities will come from this contest. This is just the first one.

But my main question to you Mr. Anonymous is....How can they ever find you if you dont leave your name or web page?????? Just a question............

Holla atcha boy folks!!

Slimdog said...

I just want permission to put the beat on my music pages so I can let everyone hear what track is in the show. Keppen, I feel you on that comment about the "Congrats, BUT". To let anonymous know, I personally have music in a movie, "Mixtape Inc., The Movie" that at this moment is being shown in theaters in Japan. That movie may be coming to DVD in the US/Canada for distribution by a distributor of Universal films. The movie company is working on the contract details on that. Europe and France are making bids on the movie to be shown there as well. All of us have EVERY hope to have our dreams fueled by this!!! Didn't you read what the admin. said? There are always other opportunities for us by this great
placing of our music in this show. The admin. said that he sent the myspace sites of a few to Atlantic as well for them to check them out along with the top 23 beatmakers. Frity Loops is NOT the end all be all of music programs. Sorry to burst your bubble. Danger Mouse didn't use fruity loops to get himself heard. He used what he could afford which was cheaper than fruity loops on his computer. Ever heard of "9th Wonder"? All he uses is Fruity Loops and look what he has done! If you have any respect for the game homie, or music for that matter, it's about the music you MAKE not the what equipment you HAVE. So you use something other than fruity loops...BIG DEAL!!! You gotta lot to learn if you feel this way. Let's hear what you got and list your achievements so we all can see how well YOU do with what you got. If anyone can get my "2 to da 3" beat on disc or mp3 to e-mail to me for less than $25, hit me up at: Slimdog027@msn.com.

I'll tell you like Dr. Dre once said, "It ain't the equipment or programs you work with, it's the man behind the music!!!" Futhermore, I'm an original music producer, I rarely use samples or music programs, but I have experimented with fruit loops and it has a few nice sounds I can tweek and incorporate from time to time. Mr. Anonymous, you obviously haven't been to my myspace music pages because if you had, you would know my CALIBER! So don't hate, just congratulate!!!

yeah..dude could have least left a link for us to check him out. The contest was a great opportunity. I think most of us make music because it's what we love to do. We hear songs in our head while sleeping, and awake. It's a creative outlet. I will continue to make music whatever happens with the contest.

I figure if my music is good enough to be featured on a show with an average of 4 million viewers, then it can't be all that bad no matter what I use. The talent is there if you have it no matter what you use.

Yeah will your sound be better if you have access to a million dollar studio? Hell yeah.

I've heard what I consider wack tunes on the radio, and lord knows how much it cost to make, and I can hear a great tune by a "nobody" that cost pennies compared to that.

I think all of us are happy that something we have created can be heard and enjoyed by others, regardless of how it was made.

Eh...I wasn't gonna respond..but just threw out my 2 cents for what it's worth. I think we have all had fun, met some great people, and are grateful to Sprite.

Lol... to answer your question... I choose to be anonymous because it doesn't matter who I am. I do have myspace like everyone else on the planet. And I did not enter the contest. And if you guys actually read my comment you would be able to understand that my opinion or long question rather was towards the admin of the post. I said no offense to the producers out there. You also would have noted that I clearly stated that your other music should be used instead of the fruity loop esque material that you guys did for the contest. I know that they're are other opportunites "Keppen"... duh. So I will state my point again... I wish that the folks who picked out the music, would go through the little bit of paper work that their attorneys handle anyway, to use some real music made by you guys. SO THAT... all the fruity loop dudes out there are NOT given false hopes. And Slimdog if you had any respect for the game you wouldn't have tried to justify using fruity loops PERIOD. Ever heard of D-dot?? Rza?? Trackmasters?? Prince Paul?? Teddy Riley?? Or even some of the younger cats a bit closer to 9th wonder, like Pharrell /the Neptunes, Timbaland, Jermaine Dupri, Rodney Jerkins, Tim & Bob or Just Blaze. Go ask those dudes about "Fruity Loops"... and don't play ya self next time.

I was just stating my opinion to the dudes runnin the show... not meant to heart anyone's feelins or get anyone butt heart. If you THINK about what you were reading you would know what I said would've actually been helpin ya'll out. Why don't you go back and read it again?? I don't wanna be mean, but it erks me when people don't think first and then talk.

Anonymous said...

On another note... congrats again to those that got picked. More importantly those that got picked, read my comment, and uderstood it.

Anonymous said...

Well dude, I can understand your point that someone just using the mixer and the samples provided could get their hopes up, but I think that it most likely won't happen. I think that they would probably be smart enough to think that if they really want to be serious about their music, then they need to get some equipment and learn how to use it..so I can see your point somewhat, and sure..I definitely would have preferred to submit original music.

But all in all..my last paragraph in my last post sums it up..

Anonymous said...

Yea I got you do1. I just disagree a little. See you're the only one who would've prefered other music. A few other cats got their panties bunched up cause they thought I was "hatin" on them. Dog(s) first off you gotta have some serious status to be "hated on." Quite frankly I'm sick of the phrase. People use it a bit too freely... No disrespect "rip one" but I only checked out the top 23. Since I'm not in the contest I don't really wanna go through EVERYBODY's stuff. Just picked and chose a couple to listen to and see what sprite and Atlantic records was workin wit. Ya dig??

Anonymous said...

Also do1 these are the same dudes that defended fruity loops and then tried to tell me about respect. Obviously someone is hyped in here about using computers to make "good" music.

Anonymous said...

That's all I was trying to point out.

Anonymous said...

Well..so you know...the listen lab sometimes drops stuff out of the tracks, I listened to one track, and half of it was blank, my bass doesn't play on the back half a lot, and I know EternallyBalln mentioned stuff droppin out. I know that they took the mp3's off the site for the judges, so no complaints, but just thought I'd let you know, that you may not have heard the whole track from the top 23 people you listened 2, probably enough to see where they were headed though..

Anonymous said...

Yea I heard a few... got the jist of some of them. They're cool. I dunno what or who's tracks they were compared to but the the list seems straight to me. Congrats to everyone who made it. Obviously those "kids" who felt the need for a rebuttal realized what's really goin on. But uh good luck to ya do1. Keep hustlin. Glad there's a grown up in here.

KEPPEN said...

I think we all read it correctly.

You dont like fruity loops, or samples in general. You also wont leave your name or myspace address, yet you complain about not being heard, in a contest you did not even enter. You dont want kids that use samples to get their hopes up. You should look in to getting a public service anouncement, or a after school special made on this subject Anon.

Keppen... you read it so correctly, that you managed to completely eff up my point.

"You dont like fruity loops, or samples in general."
-I never said I didn't like fruity loops or samples dummy. I am a fan of 9th wonder as well as the sample king Kanye.
"You also wont leave your name or myspace address, yet you complain about not being heard, in a contest you did not even enter."
-Put here -> "my complaint about not being heard." Go ahead I'll wait. And you want my name?? My myspace name?? What r you gonna cyber fight me?? LMAO
"You dont want kids that use samples to get their hopes up."
-Who said anything about samples dog?? I said FRUITY LOOPS. And also a reference to all "computer studios."
"You should look in to getting a public service anouncement, or a after school special made on this subject Anon."
-What the hell does that mean?? I think you watch a lil too much "Yo Mamma" dog.

In conclusion, Keppen read a book, or better yet go back to school. Clearly you missed the literature comprehension classes.

P.S. I don't see any "salty" top 23ers posting, for my statement made towards the admin. Hmmm... I think a few of ya'll in here got some brown noses... Go get ya wet wipes. And on that note I'm gone. Congrats to the dudes or girls that made the top 23 and to the ones that make the final 3. Ya'll are on fiya right now.

We were given what we had to work with computers or not. I've played drums since I was in 5th grade, so I do know about music. I would of loved to have Sprite use some of my other material. Maybe in the future. This is just a stepping stone. Who knows and who is playin' themselves? I DON'T use Fruity Loops at all in my work, but I have heard some SERIOUS tracks from those that do. Check out VTZ on Soundclick.com top 25 signed artists for example. I use computers too as well. What do you think a MPC4000 is? Computers are used all throughout music to sample, even by Dre, Pharrell and other hot producers along with the keyboards and other music instruments they use. Don't play yourself. In DJ Quik's DVD, "Rhythmalism" he made fun of those who used computer programs, but in the directors cut he later says that he didn't know what he was talking about at the time and gave those who use them props. I'm learning the keyboard on my Fantom Xa to make more keyboard sounds and chords for my music to step up my game. Just don't put down those who strictly use computers because there are some good beatmakers out there that use them. I give them props.

Anonymous said...

WOW... I'm not gonna say to read my post again.
But David... read my post again. I never put down people who use computer programs. Just sayin don't get their hopes up. DON'T GET THEIR HOPES UP!! So until all of you nay sayers can come up with a TOP PRODUCER that uses fruity loops. Do yourselves a favor. Just read the posts and don't respond. Cuz David you definately just played your- self as well. And soundclick?? Soundclick?? Cmon dog don't play ya self twice in one evening like that.

Lol and you know damn well I wasn't talking about an mpc... wow. Ok I'm done. Shout outs to do1 and all the other cats out there who made the top 23, and know damn well what I'm talking about, cuz you won't see those guys posting like a few of you. Peace. And Good luck. Keppen and Rip_ wtvr I hope ya'll do get to the top. And send a shout out to fruity loops if ya get there. PEACE AND LOVE

9th Wonder: Changing The Game
By Jigsaw

"Few people fully understand how 9th Wonder changed the game for producers. In 2003, he created one of the most fan-friendly trends, remixing entire albums. He took Nas’ God’s Son and revamped it into God’s Stepson. Since, a slew of others have followed suit, with largely favorable results.

His work with his crew Little Brother was a throwback to the great producers like Pete Rock or Marley Marl, those beatmaestros that held down entire albums. AllHiphop.com talked with the 28-year-old prodigy that went from Little Brother to Big Jigga in one summer.

AllHipHop.com: What made you start doing these remixes, especially the Jay-Z project?

9th Wonder: They were releasing the Black Album acapella anyway, and I know nobody was going to expect me to do it since I did God's Stepson. But cats don't understand is one of the main reasons I did God's Step Son was not only because it was acapella, but because I really wanted a chance. When you remixing somebody's joint it feels like your working with that person. Everybody is going to want to know what I did to it. I got my dream.

AllHipHop: To actually be on the album?

9th: Yeah and also I got the chance to work with him and not just that, but on one of the most historical albums ever, The Black Album, his last album. I got my dream shot. Other than me there were three cats that did Step Son or did a Nas record. I'd rather just sit back and watch cats do whatever and jump on it. It's like when 50 Cent came out with a mixtape just talking, remixing other peoples songs. How many you know were coming out doing that?

AllHipHop: The mixtape thing is getting real old now.

9th: Exactly. I'm waiting to see who puts out what and then I'll put out a joint, but I'm not really pressing it.

AllHipHop: I heard you were the first one doing it remixes like this.

9th: Yea I did it first, then Soul Supreme did Soulmatic and then MF Doom did Nastradoomus. Then this other cat did Hova's Son and took all of Nas' acapella's and put them over Jay-Z beats, which I never heard before. I guess it's something I started, remixing old records. For a long time, cats would put acapellas over beats and keep it for themselves. Me? I put it out there.

AllHipHop: So what's Little Brother up to, anything new?

9th: Well we're trying to get a deal with works of doing that. We're working on a new record, trying to get guest appearances and hope everybody will be surprised as to who our guest appearances will be.

AllHipHop: On the album?

9th: Yea, we're trying to raise this backpacking group. Outside of that whole label, rap is rap. And there is dope music and there's wack music, that's how it goes. We are trying to find dope MC's whether it be from the underground or Louisiana. It don't matter, dope songs are dope songs. But that's what we're trying to do now and hopefully the Jay-Z thing will help us out.

AllHipHop: A lot of people call you the new Pete Rock.

9th: Yea. It's like this, you always know that cat that you grew up with or went to school with that had the nice ride? They had this they had that. But Didn't really have to say nothing to no girls, didn't have to develop a personality or talk game? I quote, "It's the same way with music." So all these cats that got all this stuff, but no feeling of Hip-Hop music in their soul, their music is garbage. On the other hand the cats who ain't blessed with all that, as far as equipment, they take what they have and flip it. That's why Pete Rock is the master of the SP 1200, because it's 12 seconds of sampling time but he takes that 12 seconds and flips it. You know what I'm saying?

AllHipHop: Yeah.

9th: So all that big studio and all that that doesn't impress me. I'm really concerned with what's coming out of it. Your finished result. It's nice to have a cool setting, but what's the point of having all that if you can't work it?

AllHipHop: My brother still has the ASR10. It's not really the equipment, it's you.

9th: Kanye uses the ASR10 man. I mean make n*ggas change and do what your doing, don't follow so much. A lot of people came down on me like, why do you use fruity loops? I ain't have a choice. I did this beat for Jay-Z in the studio from my laptop. He listened to like 29 of my beats, but he didn't choose any off that CD. I guess he was seeing if I was good enough for the job. So I did it in like 20 minutes and he was like man, I haven't never seen nothing like this before."

See how once I called out the pimple faced "gamer" that probably pleasures himself to World of Worcraft characters, he has not responded. He got his attention, and went back to the Matrix Online forums to tell people how great he is at playing a computer game (even though I can beat them all in the Matrix Online also - thats why they really hate me lol).

So if you use Fruity Loops or anything like that, good for you. I dont personally use anything like that, but in the end when I record a keyboard track, use my MPC, or whatever .wav, and chop it up in editing, and loop it, tell me how different that is?

Anyone that thinks you need to manually work harder for the same results to be "real" is a moron, plain and simple. Thats why I will defend anyone that uses pre made loops or whatever they gotta to make NEW music. Get it however u gotta - thats what hustlin is all about!! So while this guy plays his video game and talks smack to guys online that he would NEVER step to in real life, some of us will be watching our music and names on TV. Its the name of the game playas! The bigger you get, the more hate some will show you. This is THE SOUND OF REVENGE.

Shoot D-Hussell, after hearing VTZ tracks and he has a 30 minute video on how he built a song from scratch, I'm thinking about getting Fruity Loops!!! This cat will tell you what plugins he uses and everything. He told me that this track was one to show how to use Fruity Loops and what potential it has. There are Award Winning movie producers that use the program...I ain't knockin'. I give props to us all for whatever we use. I don't care if someone used tin cans, a box and a playschool keyboard...feel me? If it's good...IT'S GOOD. You wouldn't believe what I use for some of my tracks and it's somewhat cheaper than FL 6...You all should check this cat, VTZ, on Soundclick.

I remember hearing Ghostface aka Ghostface Killa ( changed his name to something more PR friendly - yet hates on folkz that aint "real" get the fuq outta here!!) sayin how he sees where the music industry (the south) is goin, with eyes rolled not to long ago on MTV. I got one thing to say - this guy hates on the south for commin up, cuz he aint from the south. it was all good when NY was hot though....

If it were up to alot of the WU Tang Clan and "real" hip hop as they "think" they are, we not only would still have to listen to beats that a 3rd grader could make (if that), but we all would also not use remote controlls for our TV's ( cuz that aint real). Wu Tang had tight rappers, but their beats were a drum beat with MAYBEY a track or 2 of piano and bass looped and thats it. So now they hate on the producers that stepped the game up. Oh well.........

Sorry this aint the 80s fools. We like beats that have alot to it, that have up beat tempos, and thats that. We dont wanna hear a plain ass drum beat with some whack ass MC rappin about NY 24/7 ( we aint from there and cont care!)

Now you start to see the smart NY rappers getting on beats by Mannie Fresh and folks like him, cuz they realize that music production will never go back to their hay day. So people complaining about loops is like people sayin that if you use a cell phone - your not as real as someone that uses a payphone!

Same goes for DJ's! I give plenty of props to djs that use records still, but any DJ that says other DJ's aint real cuz he uses a computer or cds is gonna be with the Flintstones just like Wu tang haters like Ghostface whatever he calls himself these days. Get with the times and STFU is what I gotta say. FInal product trumps ANYTHING ELSE!!

You people that hate on the new school need to show some respect - cuz WE are the ones that might get you "old schoolers" work in the future! So get money, make good music, and F$#k all you haters! 2007 is our year baby!!!! So show respect to ALL folks!

How U like them apples??????

By the way, Im from the Mid West. We have not even gotten on the map yet, so the fact that the south made it big is good for folks like me, thats why I give them so much props! The east coast, west coast and now the south made it big already - the MID WEST is the last area in the US to be untouched!!

So watch out cuz we got next!! Show respect cuz we aint askin for it - we takin it!! Holla

yeah fruity loops is nice once u get to kno it..

theres a lot of different applications thats really simple to use and its really user friendly..

all my tracks from fruity loops are origional.. meaning every snare.. hi hat.. bass.. pian0.. etc was constructed by myself.. not everyone that uses fruityloops necessarily uses pre-made beats..

i dont like pre-made loops.. i just find them hard to work with.. like the samples for the contest lol.. they were a bitochh..

Yo! I just got out of the studio and was checking out some of the blogs. Man, what's all the ruckus about? If you're tight at what you do it doesn't matter what equipment, programs or samples you use! This anonymous kat is trippin! He's like that kid on the side while we're playing ball, who can't get next or an up because nobody wants to run with him, so he does the next best thing, run his mouth! He's become a heckler! Kats like that get paid no mind where I'm from, Chicago, the Windy City! Ever heard of it? So what he's saying is like leaves to me, they just blow in the breeze! Like debris on Lake Shore Drive blowing in the winds from Lake Michigan!

I thought I was going to hear some positivity and encouragement to uplift my spirit and this gump is still trying to rain on our parade! What's your point? What's your purpose? Why are you even here? If you didn't enter the contest, you ain't got nothing to say! You talking loud but ain't saying much, but can you really back it up? Show me something because I heard enough, you can't be cracking in the clutch! So you better BRING YOUR A GAME!

I can't speak for all, but as for me I've been producing for over a decade under the radar. I produce original material! I personally use the same ish Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, Lil Jon, Timbaland and a lot of established producers in the game use, the Roland Fantom X, 808, 909 and Steinberg. I work with live musicians playing percussions, horns, keys, lead guitars and bass! Several of my artists perform with live bands! So get it right! And you can check my background! Mr. Anonymous, I didn't make the Top 23, but I landed 3 tracks in the Top 100! Go to my page and check out my uncle in Chicago, The Urban "G" He's my first friend in my Top 24. Look at his profile and the professionals he has worked with, then tell that to somebody who don't know any better!

Futhermore, has it ever occured to you that certain tracks were selected for certain projects? The Top 23 has a great opportunity to be on a commercial, the 14 selected has another great opportunity to have tracks featured on a television show, NBA Freeflow on BET! Then there's other programming in the works and don't forget about the video game Admin mentioned! I feel for you, it must suck watching all these opportunities from the bleachers and being left out the game... Like my Granny always said, if you don't have anything nice to say, the don't say anything at all!
Holla at your man!

I can answer the anonymous' question:

Do you really know how long it takes to get music and an artist cleared that isn't a work for hire(wholly owned by the Company)?

1. You need to perform the background checks - I've got 30 page files on my laptop on everyone from Jay-Z to Jeezy, David Banner to Snoop. For a company like mine, anything can get you eliminated: song lyrics, past sponsorships, affiliations, whatever. That takes 7 days (4 on a super rush job).

2. If they clear the Business Affairs checks, then you have to go to the label to give them the heads up that you want to talk to their artist. No disrespect to the labels, cause they help a ton in getting stuff done, but, that means another week at least cause of schedules. The label head of marketing, A&R, manager - all have their hands out.

3. If you get that far, you can go to the artist. Chances are, he has his own personal manager or rep firm. You have to get them all on the same page. Usually the artists are most eager to work, so you can move this in 2 to 3 days.

4. After that, you have to get everybody's lawyers and Biz Affairs on the phone. My lawyers, Label lawyers, Artist Lawyers + Biz Affairs. Then you start hammering out the deal. You gotta realize here that most deals don't get done until the very last minute - there's a reason for that though. This can take months.

5. You gotta work out the Masters vs Publishing. Separate negotiations. The Masters are usually owned by the label, so if you aren't doing a funky & super complex program - ,LIKE THIS ONE!!!, this is pretty easy. The label & artist can usually help clear the publishing too. If you're working with multiple artists - you have to figure out who gets the Writer's share. We usually try to stay out of that and let them work it out themselves. BUT - let one person who sang the "oooohhhh" on the ad libs get a wind that they're only getting 5% and they start bitchin...This takes at least a month unless you have something cleared in-house already.

6. You have to produce the actual show - go through numerous rounds of approvals with large groups - or if you're working with a show like this one, everybody has a say so - the NBA, Sprite, the ad agency, & BET.

THAT's my breakdown. As a whole, the process can take months. I've been working on LeBron 23-23 since July 2006. We started out with a list of 45 rappers to use for this promo. Some that were high on the list had competitive deals, got arrested, or got shot right when we were about to sign them..

--------

So, Anonymous, if you know how to get uncleared, unlicensed, and supposedly original music into a TV show within 2 weeks, I WILL HIRE U IMMEDIATELY.

Morning Admin...no news on the top 3 yet?

Did anyone see any of the vignettes on BET yesterday? I did some recording yesterday and didn't watch any TV, anyone hear themselves yet? I know it will be exciting for those picked.

Most of us have said time and again that we are grateful to Sprite for the opportunities presented to us.

Admin, thank you for breaking it down to the very last compound! That was a quick insight to the inner workings and it says it all! I'm looking forward to seeing the vignettes on BET, and I can speak for at least 14 of us, we're eternally grateful for the opportunity and the many more to come! Big Up's to Coca-Cola, Sprite, LeBron, BET, The NBA and everyone involved in putting this together! Holla at your man!

I like fruity loops.. you can use almost ANY plugin existing with it. It's not the end all by any means.. but we all have our preferences. Technology has made production more affordable and accessible.. but notes and measures HAVE NOT CHANGED. Many props to ANYONE reading this that is a musician or fan. DO YOU REGARDLESS.....Keep your head up and keep progressing!
Thanks again for this opportunity Admin. Congrats to the Top 23 and The Freeflow folks. Peace.

Sure technology is awesome..it just allows you to do a lot of things that would be much more difficult otherwise. There is a classical musician that I pay to record strings for me, thats all great, but he is in the UK..I would never have found him or been able to use the beautiful music he makes otherwise. So if I pay him to make something specific for me, how is that much different than having him record it for me in person? Except for the expense.

Also though you may use a computer, you can take one simple sound from an instrument, and build a complete 4 min drum, bass, guitar, and piano track note by note, including chords and the whole deal. It still takes talent to do that.

This is ya boy ThaProphet. I am finally getting a chance to post to the blog again. I try to check the blog on a semi-regular basis, but work and other stuff has been keeping me real busy for the past couple of weeks.

Let me start of by saying congrats to those 14 beats and beatmakers that got their mix into the BET Show. That is some serious stuff right there. Do ya thing.

Next, good luck to the Top 23 as we have to wait a lil longer to see what's up with the Top 3. There are some very talented cats in that group and may the best come out of this for all of you. Whether you win this contest or not and whatever else may come out of this contest, stay on your grind and never give up. Almost all the big names in music have had few doors closed in their face before they blew the doors down.

As the person on here giving their opinion on things and some people take it as hate, it is not that serious. Whether it be hate or construtive criticism, take it as waht it is and keep it moving. If you see it as hate, use it as motivation to prove people wrong. If you see it as constructive criticism, use it to your advantage and make the changes you feel are necessary to make the end result better. It is impossible to please everyone all the time. That is just a part of life. No need getting worked up over it or letting it get to you like that. But thanks to that person for stating their opinion and supplying some of us with even more fuel to prove people wrong.

I do like the fact that there is a group of people that have joined forces and used this competition as the perfect breedign ground to network and collab. That is what it is all about. I have a serious interest in joining the group and learning what I can from you all. For me, this is all a bit unreal. I just seriously got into djing and music production last year. I am still doing a lot of research and playing with a lot of things to see what is best going to fit me. I am still buying equipment and trying to find my lane in all this. So, to be in the Top 23 with some guys who have been doing this for years, is great. I am hoping to join the myspace group and soak up as much knowledge as I can frmo any and all of you. I actually just created myspace pages when the contest started, after I enetered. This weekend, I plan on getting them up and going completely. I work on computers all day and don't really feel like getting on mine when I get home, but I have to make an exception this weekend. I also don't want anyone to think that because I have not been into this aspect of music for a long time that my desire is not there. My desire to make music and create is just as big as anyone else that has sincere aspirations of making serious moves in the music world. I am just getting a later start than some of you. So, be on the lookout for me on myspace starting on Monday. I figure I can get my pages looking decent by the end of the weekend. As soon as I get my pages up and somewhat put together, I plan on joining the HustlinandFlowin myspace group, if they will have a rookie like me.

Keep doing ya thing fellas and I hope to see some of you make it big in the industry...The talent is there and the determination is there too...

Is there still an admin that moderates this?

I was one of the people whose beats were showcased on the NBA freeflow show and I never got to see it or hear the track they used.

Is there anyway to get this info?
